Privacy Policy
Your privacy matters. This Privacy Policy explains how Transparent Clock handles — or rather, doesn't handle — your data.
🔒 TL;DR: We do NOT collect, store, transmit, or process any personal data. Everything stays on your device.
1. Introduction
Deep Dey / QuickLink ("we", "us", "our") operates Transparent Clock ("the Software") and the website clock.qlynk.me ("the Website"). This Privacy Policy explains our practices regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of information.
Key Principle: Transparent Clock is designed with privacy as a core principle. We follow a "privacy-by-design" approach, meaning we built the Software to minimize data collection from the ground up.
2. Information We Do NOT Collect
Unlike many applications, we do NOT collect, store, transmit, track, or process any of the following:
- Personal Information: No names, email addresses, phone numbers, or contact details.
- Usage Data: No analytics, telemetry, or usage statistics.
- Device Information: No device IDs, hardware specs, or system information.
- Location Data: No GPS, IP-based location, or geolocation data.
- Cookies: The desktop application does not use cookies. The website does not use cookies or tracking scripts.
- Browsing History: No tracking of websites you visit or apps you use.
- App Activity: No logging of Pomodoro sessions, To-Do items, or Focus History outside your local device.
- Identifiers: No user accounts, registration, or login system of any kind.
3. Data Storage — Local Only
All user-generated data in Transparent Clock is stored locally on your device only and never leaves your computer. This includes:
- Pomodoro Sessions: Work/break timers, session history, and statistics.
- To-Do Lists: Tasks, priorities, deadlines, and categories.
- Focus History: Study hours, focus sessions, and insights.
- Settings & Preferences: Clock appearance, timer durations, notifications, etc.
- User Profile: Name (if entered), goals, achievements — all stored locally.
Storage location: %LOCALAPPDATA%\TransparentClock\ on Windows.
You have full control. You can delete this data at any time by uninstalling the application or manually deleting the folder.
4. Online Features (Optional)
Transparent Clock includes a few optional utilities that require an internet connection. When you use these features, minimal data is transmitted:
4.1 QR Code Generation
- What's sent: Only the content you choose to encode (text, URL, etc.).
- Who receives it: External QR generation APIs (e.g., goqr.me or similar).
- What's NOT sent: No personal information, device info, or identifiers.
- Data retention: We do not control external APIs. Most QR services do not retain the data you encode.
4.2 QR Code Scanning
- What's sent: The image you choose to scan.
- Processing: May use online image recognition services.
- What's NOT sent: No personal information or metadata beyond the image.
- Data retention: Image data is processed and not stored by us or the service.
4.3 QuickLink URL Shortener
- What's sent: The URL you choose to shorten.
- Who receives it: QuickLink service (qlynk.me).
- What's NOT sent: No personal data is associated with the shortened link.
- QuickLink Privacy: QuickLink may log basic request metadata (IP address, timestamp) for spam prevention, but does not link this to your identity.
Important: These features are entirely optional. The core functionality of Transparent Clock (clock overlay, Pomodoro, To-Do, Focus Insights) works fully offline without requiring any data transmission.
5. Website Privacy (clock.qlynk.me)
The Transparent Clock website is a static website hosted on Vercel. It does not:
- Use cookies (except those required by Vercel infrastructure).
- Use analytics services like Google Analytics.
- Use advertising or tracking pixels.
- Collect any visitor data.
- Require user accounts or login.
Vercel: Vercel may collect technical information (IP addresses, browser types) for security and performance monitoring. This is controlled by Vercel's privacy policy, not ours. See: Vercel Privacy Policy.
6. Third-Party Services
The Software and Website may link to third-party services:
- GitHub: Source code hosting, issue tracking, releases.
- Uptodown: Software distribution platform.
- QuickLink (qlynk.me): URL shortening service.
- Social Media: Links to Instagram, YouTube, Discord, etc.
These services have their own privacy policies. We are not responsible for their data practices. We recommend reviewing their policies before using their services.
7. No Tracking or Analytics
Transparent Clock does not use:
- Google Analytics or similar analytics services.
- Error reporting or crash analytics.
- Telemetry or diagnostic data collection.
- A/B testing or feature usage tracking.
- Advertising networks or affiliate trackers.
We have no idea: How many people use the app, which features are popular, or how long sessions last — and that's by design.
8. No User Accounts or Registration
Transparent Clock does not require or support user accounts, registration, or login. There is no:
- Username or password system.
- Cloud sync or backup.
- Multi-device synchronization.
- Online profile or dashboard (everything is local).
This means no one — not even us — can access your Pomodoro sessions, To-Do lists, or Focus History. It's yours and yours alone.
9. Children's Privacy (COPPA Compliance)
Transparent Clock does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 years of age. Since we do not collect any data at all, this requirement is inherently satisfied.
The Software is suitable for students of all ages. However, we recommend that children under 13 use the Software under parental or guardian supervision.
10. International Users
Transparent Clock can be used anywhere in the world. Since all data is stored locally on your device, there are no cross-border data transfers or international data processing concerns.
The owner (Deep Dey) is based in India, but the Software does not transmit data to any servers, regardless of location.
11. Data Security
Since we do not collect or store any user data on our servers, there is no central database that could be breached or compromised. Your data security depends on:
- Your device security: Use strong passwords, keep your OS updated, and use antivirus software.
- Physical security: Your data is only as secure as your physical access to your device.
- Backup practices: If you want to preserve your data, back up the
%LOCALAPPDATA%\TransparentClock\folder manually.
12. Your Rights
Since we don't collect any personal data, there is nothing to access, correct, delete, or export from our side. However, you have full control over your local data:
- Access: You can view your data anytime in the app or by opening the local storage folder.
- Deletion: Uninstall the app or manually delete the
%LOCALAPPDATA%\TransparentClock\folder. - Export: Copy the folder to back up or transfer your data.
- Portability: Your data is stored in standard formats (JSON, SQLite, etc.) that you can read or convert.
13. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal, operational, or regulatory reasons.
Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. Continued use of the Software or Website after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
14. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) grants you certain rights regarding personal information. Since we do not collect any personal information, these rights are not applicable. However, for transparency:
- Right to Know: We have no data about you to disclose.
- Right to Delete: There is no data to delete on our end.
- Right to Opt-Out of Sale: We do not sell personal information.
15. GDPR Compliance (European Users)
If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA), the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) applies. Since we do not collect personal data:
- Legal Basis: Not applicable — no data processing occurs.
- Data Controller: Not applicable — no personal data is controlled.
- Data Processor: Not applicable — no third-party processing of personal data.
- Rights: GDPR rights (access, rectification, erasure, etc.) are not needed because no personal data is collected.
